Dale Allen, B.S.
Graduate Student, Scripps
Dale was born and raised in Southern California and attended the University of San Diego for his undergraduate in Biology. Thereafter, he worked at UCSD Health and Scripps Research as a technician before entering graduate school. He is very interested in innate immunity, drug development and protein biochemistry. Dale is also very passionate about biotechnology and hopes someday to attain a leadership role in industry. Hobbies outside of lab include hiking, basketball and relaxing with friends.
Rachel Sattler, B.S.
Graduate Student, Scripps
Rachel received a B.S. in Microbiology and Infectious Disease from the University of Texas, Austin. She is currently a joint graduate student between the Chanda and de la Torre labs at Scripps Research and is working on developing antivirals against hemorrhagic fever viruses with specific focus on Lassa virus. Her interests lie in understanding the molecular determinants of viral replication and host-pathogen interactions, and using those to develop novel antiviral targets for future therapeutic use. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, hammocking, rock climbing, and hanging out with friends at the beach.
